New LED Light Meters from Extech Tackle Today's Lighting Challenges
Light meter choices for white and color LED sources
(Nashua, NH, USA) Extech Instruments, makers of the best handheld test and measurement tools, introduces the LT series of LED light meters designed to measure light intensity of today's newer LED lighting products. The LT40 light meter is optimized for white LED lights, and the LT45 covers a range of six colors of LED lights. Both meters offer the expanded versatility of measuring both LED lights, as well as traditional lighting sources such as fluorescent, metal halide, high‐pressure sodium and incandescents.
"With rapidly decreasing prices, diverse form factors and incentive programs to spur adoption, LED lighting products have gained wide acceptance very quickly by consumer and commercial users, but existing light meters fall short when it comes to accurately testing LED lightbulbs and fixtures," said Mike Fox, General Manager at Extech Instruments. "Extech launched the new LT40 and LT45 in response to customers, who now need to account for LEDs as part of the lighting mix at office sites and manufacturing facilities, as well as in product development and testing applications. For these users accurate LED light measurement is critical for workplace health and product performance. In exterior locations such as outdoor paths on college campuses, bank ATMs, retail parking lots, and multi-level garages however, LED light meters validate adequate lighting to ensure personal safety."
Extech's LT40 and LT45 measure both LED and standard lighting in Lux or Foot-Candle (Fc) units to 400,000 Lux (40,000 Fc). Both are calibrated for cosine- and color-corrected measurements. The LT40 and LT45 provide users with one-button access to minimum, maximum and average values, as well as data-hold to freeze a reading on the easy-to-read 4-digit, 4000 count display. Both meters have an automatic power off function that can be activated to save battery life or deactivated for time-extended measurements.
The affordable LT40 White LED Light Meter is ideal for users who are primarily measuring white LEDs where illumination and light intensity requirements are similar to traditional lighting sources. The easy- to -use meter boasts an integrated sensor and is compact enough for daily use on walk-around surveys. For more info, please visit http://www.extech.com/lt40.
The LT45 Color LED Light Meter offers significantly expanded capabilities, measuring white, red, yellow, green, blue, and purple LED lights. The multi-color LED flexibility makes it a must-have for lighting applications that go beyond standard illumination. The LT45 makes inspections easier by storing up to 99 readings for later reference, when preparing reports or reviewing findings with clients. A separate light sensor with 59" (1.5m) coiled cable permits the user to aim the sensor as needed while monitoring readings. For more info, please visit http://www.extech.com/lt45.
